What is XNXX?

XNXX.com is a European pornographic website created in 1997 and maintained by WGCR (Web Group Czech Republic). WGCR is the main competitor of Aylo, formerly MindGeek (Pornhub), and the owner of Xvideos.com (another major pornographic site), totaling 6 billion cumulative visits per month across all its sites.

Originally, XNXX was just a "tube site": a website for uploading and viewing pornographic videos. Over the years, the WGCR empire has adapted to demand and technological advancements by developing its own live cam site, now present on their websites.

Today, XNXX does not allow direct video uploads. Videos must be uploaded to Xvideos.com and then selected by their team to be displayed for free on XNXX, making it an advertising revenue-only site.

The unique aspect of XNXX is that you can find content (at least in the video section) that is much less consensual than on other sites, known as "LegalPorn." This does not mean that the porn on XNXX is illegal (absolutely not), but you will find more "hardcore" content that caters to certain demands.

Human nature is such that some of us have more or less extreme fantasies.

What is Pornhub?

Pornhub.com is a pornographic website created in 2007 and owned by Aylo (formerly MindGeek), a Canadian multinational conglomerate held by a Canadian private equity firm. The Aylo empire owns a large number of pornographic sites, including major ones like Pornhub, RedTube, and YouPorn, likely totaling between 4 and 5 billion visits per month.

Pornhub has always been a "tube site," allowing users, whether they are professional studios or not, to upload and monetize pornographic videos. Pornhub is also linked to a live cam site under the name livehdcams.com.

MindGeek has faced serious moderation issues for years, including the presence of videos depicting child sexual abuse and filmed rapes. In 2020, Visa and Mastercard ceased offering their payment services on Pornhub due to the presence of "illegal content" on the platform, an issue that has since been addressed.

Pornhub is now making significant efforts to moderate content (having removed more than 80% of their previous content) and verify the individuals featured in the thousands of videos uploaded daily to their platform. As a result, Pornhub now offers content referred to as "LegalPorn," although this boundary is not well-defined.

WGCR vs Aylo: Clash of the Titans

So, what is the difference between all these websites owned by two multinational corporations? Comparing them is a bit like differentiating between Coca-Cola and Pepsi: different packaging but similar products that cater to different tastes.

The main difference between these sites lies in how the companies that own them are managed:

  • WGCR has managed to stay simple and discreet while adapting to the market and staying at the forefront of user demands and technological advancements.
  • Aylo owns an 8-story tower in Montreal with an entire department dedicated to content moderation and clearly sets the rules for the industry (intentionally or unintentionally).

It all comes down to personal preferences. Both of these mega-corporations are clearly pioneers in the distribution of pornographic videos on the internet, and if you consume this type of content, there is a strong chance you are using one of their sites. The choice is yours.
